Barbara Lee 'Bobbie' Hostvedt
Barbara Lee "Bobbie" Hostvedt, 85, of DeWitt, died Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2017, at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf.

Barbara Lee Hostvedt was born Dec. 21, 1931, in Menominee, Michigan, the daughter of Arnold and Mabel Michaelis Hostvedt. After graduating from high school, Bobbie received training as a nanny at Cradle in Evanston, Illinois, and worked all over the country. She later received her education in nursing in California and was a registered nurse in the neonatal unit until retirement. She volunteered for the Red Cross and was at Ground Zero twice after 9/11, feeding the emergency responders.

Bobbie was a faithful member of Emmaus Road Church in DeWitt. She loved reading the Bible daily.

She enjoyed collecting Precious Moments, working on genealogy, crocheting, knitting, swimming, and holding babies.

She is survived by three nieces, Debbie (Paul) Vandemore of Geneseo, Illinois, Sheri (Kurt) Meier of DeWitt, and Dawn Mallum of Geneseo; two nephews, Jeff Oliver and Nathan (Becky) Oliver, all of Grand Rapids, Michigan; a sister-in-law, Patricia Hostvedt of Geneseo; and many great-nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Carol Phillips; a brother, Arnold Jr.; and a brother-in-law, James Oliver.

Visitation will be from 10 until 10:45 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 25, at Emmaus Road Church in DeWitt. Her funeral will follow at 11 a.m. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery in Menominee.

Memorial donations are suggested to American Red Cross and Emmaus Road Church.
