Harlan Edward Petersen, 86, of Monett, Missouri, passed away Saturday, Nov. 5, 2017, at Cox Monett Hospital. A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, Nov. 19, at the Wheatland Community Center in Wheatland, from 3 to 5 p.m., followed by a dinner. A private family service will be held at the Pine Hill Cemetery in Davenport. Chapman Funeral Home is assisting the family.
Harlan was born May 5, 1931, in Inland Township, Bennett, to Harry and Martha VandeBrande Petersen. He attended Lizard Creek Country School. He married Shirley Spickermann on Feb. 26, 1955, in Davenport. She preceded him in death in 1995.
Harlan was a Korean War Veteran and went on the Honor Flight of the Ozarks to Washington, D.C. in 2015.
He farmed by New Liberty, and did custom work for Farm Service. He retired to Bella Vista, Arkansas, in 1991.
He married Lily Ann Stonehouse-Tade on Oct. 28, 1995, in Bella Vista, and they later moved to Monett.
Survivors include his wife, Ann; two daughters, Deborah (Gary) Upp, and Lori Boedeker; a son, Duane (Jimmi) Petersen; six stepchildren, Kathy (Scott) Swanson, Karren Stonehouse, Kristine Haley, Kimberly (Douge) Sprague, Kelly (David) Rhea, and Kurtis James (Cindy) Stonehouse; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Harlan was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Shirley; and great-grandson, Trevor Trumbo.
Harlan enjoyed farming, traveling, hunting, fishing, wood working, playing cards with friends and family, and going to the Monett Senior Center.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Monett Senior Center or The Honor Flight.
